Police and the parents of the man whose body was recovered from the Hudson River are waiting on autopsy results this morning.
Several aspects of the autopsy on the presumed body of Joshua Szostak should be available today. A boater found the body in the Hudson just off Coxsackie Point yesterday afternoon. Law enforcement sources and Szostak's father tell NEWS10 a wallet was found on the body, and the identification inside the wallet belonged to Szostak.
Szostak was last seen four months ago on Pearl Street in Albany during a night out with friends. Since then, family and friends have conducted an exhaustive search. Now it appears that search is over.
"Items that were found on him - I'm not going to get into the specifics of it - lead us to believe it is him," Albany Public Safety Spokesperson James Miller says. "But obviously we don't have confirmation until the autopsy is complete."
If in fact it is Szostak, police say learning how he died could help them determine how he ended up in the Hudson River, and whether this was an accident or a homicide.
