CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a Long Island woman has been arrested on drug charges after a crash that hurt her 11-year-old daughter.

The car smashed into a utility pole late Sunday in Central Islip (EYE'-slip.)

The child was treated for a head injury. She's now being cared for by relatives.

The mother was awaiting arraignment Monday.

Suffolk County police say she's also facing charges of child endangerment, as well as harassment for hurting an officer.
