The story of a man who found a snake head in his meal at a T.G.I. Friday's in Clifton Park has taken another strange turn.
The restaurant is now asking New York State Police to open a criminal investigation into the incident, because they say the snake head was planted in the meal.
Friday's says a lab test found the head had never been cooked with the broccoli served to Ballston Lake resident Jack Pendleton on Sunday, and was instead added sometime after the cooking process.
Pendleton told NEWS10 that while dining out with his girlfriend at the restaurant that evening, he discovered the thumb-sized, decaying head within a plate of broccoli served to him.
A statement from Amy Freshwater, Vice President of communication and public relations for Carlson Restaurants Worldwide, the parent company of T.G.I. Friday's, said, "We don't know who was involved in this senseless act of product tampering, but we are cooperating fully with the authorities and will prosecute the individual or individuals involved to the fullest extent of the law."
The statement continued to say, "Product tampering is a serious offense and impacts all restaurants, not just Friday's."
NEWS10 spoke with Pendleton by phone on Friday. He said the investigation would be a good idea, and unsurprisingly, would also like to know how the head got onto his plate.
