Associated Press - May 21, 2009 1:25 AM ET

NEW YORK (AP) - New York City police say a 16-year-old driver and 1 of his passengers have been killed in a two-car collision in Queens.

Police say six teenagers were in the car traveling south bound on Brookville Blvd. just before 5 p.m. Wednesday when it crossed over to the north bound lane and collided with a minivan.

The driver and front passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names were not immediately released by police. The other four teens were hospitalized in guarded condition.

The 70-year-old female minivan driver was also hospitalized in stable condition.

The state's Dept. of Motor Vehicles Web site says drivers under the age of 18 with a junior license or learner's permit are not allowed to drive in New York City.
