NY driver arrested on child endangerment charges

CORAM, N.Y. (AP) - A Farmingville man was arrested on charges of drunken driving and child endangerment after his vehicle was stopped for swerving across a road.

Police say 44-year-old Eugene T. Staudte Jr. was driving Friday night on Suffolk County Road 83 when an officer noticed Staudte's Jeep swerving and stopped the vehicle. Also in the Jeep were the man's 10- and 7-year-old sons and a 7-year-old nephew.

Staudte was arrested and taken to jail. His sons were turned over to their mother. The nephew was turned over to his father.
