Associated Press - August 6, 2009 12:05 PM ET

NEW YORK (AP) - Fresh off a diplomatic trip to North Korea, former President Bill Clinton is making an announcement with drug companies.

Pfizer Inc. CEO Jeff Kindler and Mylan Inc. CEO Robert Coury were slated to appear with Clinton at Thursday's press conference in Manhattan.

In 2002, Clinton established an HIV/AIDS initiative to negotiate lower prices for some drug treatments. He has also done the same for some malaria treatments.

Clinton returned to the United States this week from North Korea. He had a rare meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Il to secure the freedom of 2 detained U.S. journalists.
