SHARON SPRINGS, N.Y. -- State police have officially ruled a suspicious death in Schoharie County this week as a homicide.
63-year-old George King was found dead in his Village of Sharon Springs home on Monday.
An autopsy performed on King at Albany Medical Center Tuesday revealed blunt force trauma to be the cause of death.
New York State Police have charged the victim’s son, 37-year-old Gerry King with 2nd degree murder.
Crime scene tape surrounded George King’s home on 524 Staleyville Road in the village Tuesday afternoon while the vehicles of several State Troopers were parked outside.
Neighbors say the 63-year-old lived in the house alone.
Unfolding over Tuesday was the hunt for Gerry King. He was originally wanted for questioning in the case, but was no where to be found Tuesday morning. State police then learned that he was driving towards Connecticut.
Connecticut State Police were able to locate and apprehend him, where he was placed in jail on a fugitive from justice warrant.
Gerry King was then brought back to Schoharie County Wednesday evening where he was arrested again and charged with murder.
Sharon Springs is located about 50 miles west of Albany.
