AMSTERDAM, N.Y. -- A man in the Town of Amsterdam was airlifted to Albany Medical Center after falling into the Mohawk River early Tuesday afternoon.

Montgomery County Sheriff Michael Amato says bystanders first reported seeing the man in the water, near Lock #10 of the river.

Another man was able to jump into the river and pull the victim to land where emergency personnel took over.

The victim was then taken to Albany Medical Center by helicopter.

The man’s identity is being withheld at this time and his condition is unknown.
