(posted: November 27th, 9:00pm) A 10-foot inflatable Sponge Bob Square Pants balloon was stolen from the roof of a Menands Burger King Thursday Night.
The Sponge Bob balloon was supposed to be part of a promotional campaign involving Burger King and the new movie. But what the people who stole Sponge Bob didn't count on were the video cameras on top of the roof that caught them coming in and going out of the parking lot.
From start to finish the culprits took over an half an hour on their criminal task. Manager Sue Hart is disappointed for the kids who get excited by their promotions even though he was only there for a week.
Sponge Bob balloons have also been taken nationwide, including in Lansingburgh and Glens Falls. Police are still looking for the theives, who could get up to a year in jail for the crime.
