(posted: March 15th, 8:30pm) Corianna Thompson, the daughter who discovered her mother's body Sunday afternoon retained a high-powered private attorney Tuesday.
Defense attorney E Stewart Jones told investigators Tuesday his client is not to be contacted without his knowledge and approval.
"We also confirm that the cause of death was strangulation," said Sheriff James Campbell of Albany County.
Eighty-six year old Jean Balashek died inside her town of New Scotland home the same way a young Albany woman died nearly 25 years ago.
Corianna Thompson was born Corey Balashek. In 1981 the young man was sent to state prison for nine years, convicted of strangling to death a female patient he met while working at the Capital District Psychiatric Center.
Police said they will continue to follow up on many leads, both from traffic stops made Monday and 911 calls.
