Online Shopping Scam

An online grinch is arrested for selling goods over the internet without delivering.

Albany police say Yaminah Jenkins of Albany was selling hot items like I-Pods and MP-3 players to unsuspecting customers over the internet. After sending money to the 19-year-old's Albany bank account, the shoppers never recieved the products they paid for.

"What she was doing was sending packages back with nothing in them," said Albany Police Detective James Miller.

Police could not say what website Jenkins was using for the online sales. They were alerted by the strange activity on her SEFCU bank account.

Jenkins is charged with third degree larceny and mail fraud. Police say she made around $12,000 from the online scam.

Police caution anyone shopping on the internet to make sure they are using a secure website with reputable record.
