Halfmoon officials have confirmed they are in talks with an area health care provider to open a hospital on Route 146, east of Route 9.
The Daily Gazette says town officials have had several behind the scenes meetings on the issue. The paper quotes Town Supervisor Ken DeCerce as saying they are very excited about the prospect. However, DeCerce would not name the hospital that is expressing interest in the project.
The new hospital would be a 120 bed facility with a 24-hour emergency room. The property is currently zoned agricultural and residential, but would be rezoned when Halfmoon's master plan is updated.
