109th Airlift Wing Back from Antarctic

Updated:

It is time to see some beautiful pictures from the Antarctic.

The 109th Airlift Wing of the New York Air National Guard completed its third record-breaking season in a row as the primary on-continent airlift provider for the National Science Foundation's US Antarctic program.

The ski-equipped LC-130 Hercules aircraft returned from Operation Deep Freeze. The unit is just returning from their four month stint.

Over the course, the Scotia-based unit flew more than 526 missions, the most ever in a single season. They supported the largest construction project ever conducted in the interior of the Antarctic continent.
