Underground fires in Albany make manholes blow

Updated:

Burning underground cables appear to be to blame for several manhole cover fires in downtown Albany on Monday.

Crews were forced to shut down part of Washington Avenue and surrounding streets near the Capitol Building as fire and utility crews responded to the scene.

NEWS10 is told no power service was disrupted because of the incident, and that all streets have since been reopened.
